In this episode, Tom Orr walks us through his studio and tells us about his upcoming installation, Intersecting Passages, at Love Field Airport in Dallas. He also speaks about two other works, Young Adults Without Heads and LODGE. This studio visit with Tom was made possible through a collaboration with The MAC PAC, The MAC Professionals + Artists Collective. On Saturday, November 17th, The MAC PAC visited the studios of Frances Bagley and Tom Orr. Each artist walked the group through their studio to discuss the art and in-studio processes they use to create the work. In this first episode filmed that day, Tom walks the group through his studio. This studio visit comes shortly after the closing of Tom’s recent exhibition at Barry Whistler Gallery, Tom Orr: Delicious Poison (September 8 – October 13, 2012). The works, Untitled (2012) and Young Adults Without Heads (2010), seen in this video, were part of that show. The beginning section of this episode focuses on his upcoming work, Intersecting Passages, that will be installed at Love Field Airport in Dallas. Here, Tom discusses an early model created for it, the process and materials, translating the piece from model to work, the troubles with creating a large piece and his use of color for it.
