Emma – Now that the Met joins the ranks of the MoMa and the Guggenheim, by adding their own IOS app, what does this say about other museums both in NYC and around the US? With social media and the use of electronic devices becoming so prevalent in our everyday life, does this set those who are digitally ‘tapped in’ apart from others who are not as ahead of the game? What can they do to adapt? Are they really missing out? What do you think?

On view from Sept. 18-21, a selection of photographs from FotoFest 2014 Biennial exhibition of Contemporary Arab photography, video and mixed media art will be on view during the Houston Fine Art Fair.  One artist in particular from FotoFest 2014 that stuck out in my mind was Hassan Hajjaj – Moroccan stylist and photographer. Read more about his work in The Huffington Post.

KC – As a painter (and lover) of portraits, I’ve found beauty and inspiration in early fashion photography, particularly those of regular vogue photographer Horst P. Horst who is being recognized at the Victoria and Albert Museum in the retrospective show “Horst: Photographer of Style.” The show, which is on view through January 4th, shows Horst’s manipulation of light and variety of subjects.

Linda- 2 pieces of weird art news: Shaq curates a group show? And Prada Marfa gets to stay.

Logan – I was interested in this article because I know there were a few Dallas-based artist’s studios they visited, and I think it’s such a great idea. I can’t wait to get up to Arkansas and see the museum for myself!

Richard – A short film with Ai Weiwei called The Sand Storm. Or check out Thomas Heatherwick’s TED talk-The exhibition at the Nasher opens this weekend. Watch him here….
