The Modern

Show Notes:
The Modern is celebrating their 10th Anniversary in that gorgeous Tadao Ando building. For those of us that remember the old buidling, it is hard to believe that it has been ten years. But what an incredible ten years it has been. In this first decade, The Modern has presented some amazing exhibitions: retrospectives and surveys of artists like Phillip Guston, Dan Flavin, Susan Rothenberg, Kara Walker, Robert Motherwell, Anselm Kiefer and Vernon Fisher to name just a few. In addition, the Focus series has presented (and on occasion introduced) young and established artists to Fort Worth.
In this episode, we speak with Chief Curator Michael Auping about this important occasion and the current exhibition. Right now, not only can you see works from the permanent collection that have not been seen in some time, but the Modern has acquired a handful of new works that are now on display. This includes Jenny Holzer’s Kind of Blue and Bruce Nauman’s Studio Mix. We can not say enough about how great these works are. It is worth a trip to the museum to see them and experience them in person. To learn more about the new acquisitions, clicker here.
We were given unbelievable access to film these important new acquisitions. Thanks to The Modern and Micheal Auping.
Thanks to the Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden for allowing us to film in the garden.
