On September 14, 2019, for our series Voices on Art, in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houson, Art This Week Productions filmed this conversation between photographer Langston Hues and “Houston Chronicle” fashion editor Joy Sewing.
Hues was featured in the exhibition Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography on view at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston through September 22, 2019.
From the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston website–”Exploring the relationship between personal style and spirituality in the age of social media, Langston Hues photographs young, stylish, modestly dressed women around the world for his project Modest Street Fashion. Sometimes referred to as “Hijabistas” or “Turbanistas,” the women share their distinct style with the world through blogs, Instagram, and other social platforms.
Hues, whose work is featured in the exhibition Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography, visits Houston for this talk with Houston Chronicle fashion editor Joy Sewing.”
Thanks to Langston and Joy for allowing us to film the talk. Thanks also to the MFAH staff, especially Trey Ferguson, for their help recording this talk.
